Bassaíl spoke about the re-released of his album, his future plans in music and why he chose to do a cover of “Bailando,” song by Alaska y Dinarama.
EXTRA: Why is Camisa de Fuerza being re-released?
Miguel Bassaíl: The CD did not have a fair promotion in the U.S. when an independent label originally distributed it. Due to the many new electronic music outlets such as Apple iTunes, Verizon Wireless’ V Cast Music/Rhapsody, CDBaby.com and others, independent artists, like myself, are able to bring their material to fans without having to depend on a multinational that will put all of their efforts in only a couple of artists.
E: Do you have any plans for a U.S. tour to promote the album?
MB: Right now I am only doing a media tour. I have been fortunate that print and some independent radio stations have welcomed me and given a new life to Camisa de Fuerza.
E: You co-wrote “Vete de Mi Vida.” Who did you co-write that with and what is the song about?
MB: “Vete de Mi Vida” was written by my good friend Raúl Rosario. I actually wrote the music. The song reflects what he was going through emotionally at the time – a love that was coming to an end. I am very happy that he trusted me with the song for this project. The song
