Bisexuality and Self-Empowerment through a Latina Lens
Argentinean writer and director Florencia Manovil discusses ‘Fiona’s Script’

Florencia Manovil
well as her fantasy world. I was going to have to show why she is not as connected to reality as other people are.

This movie has been screened across the nation. Was there anything that was particular to the Chicago scene?

In Chicago, I could not help but comment over and over how great the audience was. People [were] excited about the festival [and] all of the films that I saw were screened to pack theaters. The audience, beyond showing up, was engaged [with the] movie; they laughed, they commented about the movie honestly. That was a really unexpected highlight.

Are there any future projects in the works?

I am already fundraising for my next project. It is a story about two women who are each other’s first love and are passionate about social justice and making a [difference] in the world. They also have very different personalities and eventually one becomes a cop and the other a protestor. It sort of lemons their lives and then they meet up again. It is a much larger project, with a bigger budget.
