Guidelines on how to survive today’s job market
There is no magical way of finding a job. To be successful, you have to have a strategic plan and stick to it until you find the right job. In this current market, the job hunt will take longer than usual, but you can be successful by staying with a realistic action plan, put in sincere and consistent effort and be patient.
Here are some job search guidelines to help improve the chances of getting a job this year.
Review your life and career
It is self-evaluation that drives goals. Their achievement leads you where you want to go. Proper planning is the key to success. Unexpected things do happen: sometimes it’s good. Sometimes it’s not, but it is the exception, not the rule. Realistically review your strengths and weaknesses. What do you enjoy in your work? Where do you see yourself in the short or long-term? How will you position yourself on that path? It’s tough, but you must be honest, focused and willing to work hard for your dreams.
Set your job search and career goals
This keeps you motivated and focused on your objective. Set achievable goals and direct your efforts in ways that will have results. The results achieved will energize you as well as help prioritize your day-to-day efforts. How to set goals? Get a piece of paper and write them out. Keep in mind they should be meaningful and specific, measurable, achievable, results-focused and time-bound. Once that is done, go with it with all your might.
Expand your professional network
A close network of contacts that spans geographical and diversity will help you with the possibility of greater job leads. It has been said that the best jobs come
