In an interview with EXTRA on Jan. 15, Democratic candidate, Xavier Nogueras, spoke about why he is qualified to be the next Cook County Commissioner of the 8th District.



EXTRA: If elected on Feb. 2nd, what would you do different from current Cook County Commissioner, Edwin Reyes.


Xavier Nogueras: Without a doubt I am going to be an independent candidate. He is not.



What do you mean?

My decisions will not be based on people who sponsored me. Joe Berrios and Dick Mell have sponsored Reyes, and so Reyes has already voted for things [like] video gambling, he was only one of five people who did. Berrios is the number one lobbyist in the video industry. I don’t want video gambling in Humboldt Park and Logan Square.
