What is your first order of business if elected for the nomination?

Get elected in November [and] then I would overhaul the county government and identify good people to work with a team.



What made you decide to run for this office?

I supported Stroger when he ran. Recently, I was part of the transitional team to work on the juvenile detention center. One day, I picked up the Sun Times and read Stroger was going to turn the juvenile detention center over to a judge. Why did we spend this time to investigate, and make a report? Another waste of money. In the middle of his term, the doctors from Michael Reese came to me and said they would like to partnership with Provident. We spent nine months trying to work on this with the county. I couldn't get Stroger to do anything. Michael Reese went out of business, and now Provident may also. At that point, I gave up on him. It's important that the leader of the county care about these things.



Other people using our hospital facilities come from other counties. How would you work with this?

If other counties don't want a free health care system, we need to get them to pay for one. We can go to the state and say at least get them to pay it or we are the regional provider for health care. The state ought to help us do it. ...
