In an interview with EXTRA on Jan. 18, Democratic candidate for Cook County Commissioner of the 7th District, Jesús García, spoke about his main focus if elected in the primary election.
EXTRA: If elected for the nomination, what would be your first order of business?
Jesús García: I would prepare an agenda for reform in the county board. Some area for reforms: Oak Forest Hospital, the highway department, the forest preserve [and] the juvenile detention center. Start to root out waste and inefficiencies. I am on the board of the community justice for youth institute and that organization has been working to improve conditions at the correction center. We need to get the help that the youth needs.
