The Winners and Losers of the 4th Round

In the sport’s world, there sometimes tends to be some peculiar results. Many times there are unexplainable results, like the fourth round of Apertura 2010.

Of the eight games played over last weekend, four ended with a 1-1 tie, two games ended with a 1-0 score and the remaining two games were blowouts.

The most exciting game was between Potros del Atlante and Camoteros de Puebla. The game was fast-paced, but Puebla didn’t take advantage of playing at home; they dominated the game but after a defensive mistake, Atlante put themselves up 1-0. Puebla immediately went on the attack, but Atlante’s goalkeeper saved the day over and over again. When everything indicated that Potros would take the win, Puebla tied the game.

Águilas del América was a second team with home field advantage, but they weren’t able to defeat a weak team like Zorros del Atlas; the game ended with a score of 0-1.

Diablos del Toluca, the current champion, is facing issues. The team has played four games to date, and haven’t been able to win once. Their game this week with Tigres de la Sultana ended in a 1-1 tie.

Necaxa and Gallos Blancos del Querétaro also tied 1-1 in the most boring game of the week.

Gladiadores del San Luis Potosí and Monarcas de Morelia ended 1-0. Last week, Monarcas easily defeated Tuzoz. Meanwhile, San Luis hadn’t been able to win a single game; Monarcas probably thought the game was going to be a piece of cake, but San Luis held their ground and got the win.
