After last year’s successful conference, next month Illinois ResourceNet’s (IRN) will base its theme on its signature, place-based approach to capacity building in the federal grants arena.
IRN proposes that the state can further the flow of federal resources to organizations through continuous, cross-sector planning at the regional and community levels.
Since 2008, the organization has helped nonprofits and local governments throughout the state to submit proposals, leading to $6.8 million in awards for these groups. More than $185.8 million still await decisions.
In the course of two years, IRN has collaborated with experts from federal, state and regional groups who will be present at the conference to assist participants on topics such as planning and obtaining federal grants in place-based strategies.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with skilled trainers during the six breakout sessions. Topics for the sessions include collaborative proposal development, case examples of successful grantees, data collection and grant writing, layering federal funding proposals and working with universities and community colleges to apply for such funds.
