An owner’s success depends on how well he or she is able to draft and select players to play for the upcoming week. 

Sylvester and Sánchez both agree that the best way to stay up to speed with your players is to keep an open ear to injuries, trades and other NFL changes.

In the last weeks, some of the NFL top fantasy picks suffered serious injuries, hurting both their team and fantasy owners that drafted them. Such an injury can easily end an owner’s chances of winning their fantasy league.

Such changes will most likely force you to trade up or down or pick a player that is available. Most leagues charge a small amount of money for each trade.

Although being in multiple leagues is even more time-consuming than being in one, Sánchez says there is a great upside to this:
“Fantasy allows you to enjoy all of the NFL teams, not just you’re favorite,” he said.

Super Bowl shuffle
Depending on the amount of owners participating in a league (the average seems to be a minimum of eight), leagues vote on the amount of teams that will move on to the playoffs and what week the Super Bowl will take place.

Sánchez won his league’s championship last year.

“In 2007, I was lucky enough to smash a team by the name of Pilsen Paleteros in the Super Bowl,” said Sylvester. “I really don’t care about the money. In my league it’s all about the respect and bragging rights for sure!”
