Accomplishments:
• He signed legislation to provide preschool to all children in Illinois.
• He supports the Family Care program, which provides healthcare to families and children who otherwise cannot afford it.
• He has appointed Health Care Reform Implementation Council, to ensure the state is compliant with the provisions of the Affordable Care Act – expanding access and improving affordability for health care.

• He was the first Republican to speak to the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and has met with the Little Village, Puerto Rican and United Southwest Chambers of Commerce.
• He has supported school choice and would sign legislation allowing for a school vouchers program in underperforming areas.
• He has supported programs that would encourage the expansion of minority owned businesses, as well as cracking down on unfair lending practices.

Role
The governor is the Chief Executive of the state and the various agencies and departments over which the officer has jurisdiction. He is responsible for enacting laws passed by the Illinois General Assembly. Illinois is one of 14 states with no gubernatorial term-limit. The governor has the supreme executive power and is responsible for the execution of the law. The governor nominates and with the advice and consent of the Senate, appoints all officers whose election or appointment is not otherwise provided for. The governor may remove for incompetence; neglect of duty or malfeasance in office any officer who may be appointed by the governor.
