Antonio Margarito is ready to fight the battle of his life when he squares off against the pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao for the vacant WBC Super Welterweight world title Nov. 13 at Cowboys Stadium.

“I thank God for getting this opportunity,” said Margarito (38-6). “I know how hard it was to make the fight real and I’m very happy that it’s finally here. I want to show everyone that I belong at this level against the best fighter in the world.”

Pacquiao (51-3) is on a quest to win the eight world record title of his career; he is currently the world champion of seven different weight classes. But he will have a tough test against the Tijuana Tornado, who has a six-inch reach advantage.

“In our training today, we started hard against big and taller guys to give them that advantage,” said Pacquiao. “With our strategy, however, we are not worried about the size. I believe I can fight the bigger guys and believe in our talent.”

This is the first mega fight since 2009 for Margarito. He was suspended for one year for having loaded gloves.

“I try not to dwell on the negative. I know people will ask the questions and I have to answer the questions and I have no problem with them,” said Margarito. “Everything is in the past and I can’t wait until Nov. 13. It is going to be a super fight and I can’t wait to be up in the ring.”

Pacman’s trainer Freddie Roach doesn’t think Margarito has a chance to beat Pacquiao.

“We will overwhelm him with the punches. Pacquiao will land on him with the fast hands and combinations,” said Roach. “In eight or nine rounds, we will break him down. Margarito ...
