Coming off a key win against Portland, the Chicago Bulls (3-3) went into their game against the New York Knicks with a lot of confidence Nov. 4. However, they showed a dismal performance on the court. Chicago allowed New York to shoot 67 percent from behind the three-point line and the Bulls defense was non-existent. Knicks forward Danilo Gallinari torched the Bulls with 24 points. Although big man Joakim Noah turned in his fourth double-double in as many games, the Bulls lost to the Knicks 120-112.
Chicago visited the defending Eastern Conference Champion Boston Celtics Nov. 5. Boston came out focused and turned a four point deficit in the second quarter into a 10-point lead by forcing Chicago to go 0-for-7 from the fields with four turnovers. The Bulls erased a 16 point lead in the second half to force overtime. But Chicago came up short losing in OT 110-105. Chicago’s Taj Gibson shot 9-for-14 from the field, increasing his percentage to 64 percent this season.
After two tough losses, Chicago wanted to make a statement against a Carmelo Anthony led Denver Nuggets squad Monday night. Derrick Rose went 7-for-21 from the field scoring 18 points. Anthony finished the night with 32 points, scoring 10 straight as he closed out the third quarter putting Denver up two points.
However, the story of the night was Noah, who scored his six double-double of the season. He is the first franchise player to open up the season with a double-double in six games; Artis Gilmore holds the record of 11 consecutive double-doubles during the 1978-79 season. Chicago beat Denver 94-92.
