Spanish singer Shaila Dúrcal has been keeping busy.
Not only did she co-host the Latin Grammys on Nov. 11, she is also in the middle of recording a new album and promoting a new single.
Along with her work in the music
industry, Dúrcal, who is the daughter of the late Rocio Dúrcal, is also the new spokesperson for the Degree Women Fine Fragrance Collection.
During an interview with EXTRA, Dúrcal, 31, talked about why she loves the Latin Grammys and why having butterflies in your stomach is always a good sign if you’re a performer.
EXTRA: You’ve been to the Latin Grammys before. Do you remember your first time there?
Shaila Dúrcal: Yes, that first time will always be the most special. I was nervous and had butterflies in my stomach. I was nominated for the first time that night. It was an amazing night.
What does every ceremony bring that’s new and exciting for you?
I’m a huge fan of music, so every year I get to meet new artists. I always love to be part of these Latin Grammys. I think it’s so important that we’re together celebrating Latin music.
You co-hosted this past show, but you have also gone to the Latin Grammys as a performer. How different is it to get up on stage to perform in front of your colleagues and peers in comparison to a regular audience?
You want to give your best performance and want to show them how much you’ve achieved from year to year. Those butterflies that I was talking about come back because you want everything to be perfect. I think it’s the most special moment in music.
I’m sensing you get a nervous a lot.
