Keys to employment Tech savvy and bilingualism

Today’s economic landscape will be very different to what it was before this recent recession. So, what will human resources professionals look for in people to hire? They are looking for people who are technology-savvy and have the capacity to work for enterprise-wide results. The following trend is an idea.

Leaders and followers with exceptional people skills are desirable. As companies grow, people who are good at working in teams to accomplish projects are essential. Then, when projects are ready to expand or implement people will be sought out who are good at establishing systems and procedures to make the transitions successful.

As we all know, technology is becoming more widespread in all areas from personal banking to paying for groceries. And who knows what tomorrow’s technology will bring? Those, who pride themselves as being on the cutting edge of trends like network technology, media space management, and the likes of smart phones and e-readers, will help companies streamline business and stay on the leading edge.

The leading edge includes staying on top of the population market trends and being bilingual, which provides a broader choice of career opportunities. Speaking another language – like Spanish – is and will be in greater demand depending on demographical areas. For instance, Chicago recently saw an increase of its Latino community grow from 25 percent to 27.4 percent (U.S. Census, American Community Survey). And the U.S. Latino population will triple from an estimated 48.4 million to 132.8 million by 2050, representing about 30 percent of the American population (U.S. Census Facts: Hispanic Americans).

Hispanic buying-power will increase as a result, reaching almost $1.2 trillion in 2011 – about six times what it was in 1990 (Selig Center for Economic Growth). So it won’t be a surprise when large ...
