The Bears 2010 Wrap up

Now that the Chicago Bears 2010 season has come to a bitter end after losing to the Green Bay Packers 21-14 in a wild NFC Championship game, it is time to see what the future holds for this team.
 
Quarterback
Jay Cutler had a good season but when it mattered most, he came up short. The Bears quarterback completed just six passes for 80 yards against the Packers before leaving the game with a knee injury. I don’t know what is in store for Cutler next season but it will take a lot more from him for the Chicago fan base to believe in him again. On the plus side, third string QB Caleb Haine earned respect and should be considered a potential starter after he made the most of his opportunity.

Running back
Matt Forte was an important piece to the Bears success this season. He had a slow start but picked it up a notch late in the season. He will only get better under the Mike Martz offense. On the other hand, Chester Taylor’s role in the Bears offense was minimal. The Bears need to either include Taylor more on offense or trade him for a draft pick.

Receivers
The biggest problem in 2010 for the receiving group was that there is no number one receiver. Every week there was a receiver that stepped it up, but the inconsistencies were evident. The Bears should focus on obtaining someone that will draw attention from the opposing defenses and give everyone a better chance at scoring.

Offensive line
This has been the Bears Achilles’ heel all season long. They were horrible in the beginning of the season, but somehow got it together and gave Cutler that much needed protection. This is an aging line with ...
