June 12, 1994, to you and me, is perhaps just another day, but not to pizza boys and gals.

Fifteen years ago, Yehudi Mercado was a Houston area pizza boy and he remembers the day vividly as the day the most pizzas were ever ordered. It started out with the World Cup, not usually the biggest sporting event in the U.S., but in 1994 cities like Chicago played host to the World Cup. Later that day, the Houston Rockets were to play in the NBA finals but what put it over the top was the O.J. Simpson white Bronco chase, televised live all across the country.

Mercado drew on his experiences that day to write “Buffalo Speedway” a graphic novel (available on Amazon.com). Mercado says “Every pizza boy has a story.”
