A few weeks ago there were some news that the President of Venezuela, Hugo Chavez, was affected by cancer, one of the worst illnesses in the world and one I would never wish anyone, not even my worst foe.
It called to my attention that the info was given when the president of my country was in Cuba, where supposedly he was diagnosed with an abdominal tumor. I was even more shocked by the the fact that Chavez had decided to undergo surgery in cuba and be treated there, instead of in Venezuela, where we have very good and very capable doctors with excellent global repuations.
All this sounds to me very strange and contradictory, because Chavez, has done about everything he could, and has fought everyone, going around the globe to sell the idea that his government has developed the most in the health field.
Would all this be just a lie? Because I cannot understand how the president of a country that has very good doctors can prefer a treatment in a place that has been far from the technological and medical advances for over 40 years, and is the product of a dictatorship.
Many people say that Chavez went to Cuba because of safety issues. If he, who has said that he has all the country’s problems under control, does not feel safe to be there, how should the common citizens could feel?
I think that all this leaves a big question about the current Venezuelan system, leaving aside that now there are three presidents, because due to his indefinite absence, Chavez designated two people to take care of functions, as he is abroad.
To do this you must have a lot of confidence in yourself and in all people around you,
